What You Can Now Do
Context Memo now ships an AI Access Check: you can run it as a widget on your landing pages or call it through our public API to diagnose whether your website's technical configuration allows AI models to crawl and index your content. Until now, a scan could tell you that your brand was missing from an answer, but not whether the cause was content or plumbing. The check separates the two. If your pages are returning oversized response headers, blocking agent requests, or otherwise failing to serve cleanly to an AI crawler, you see that before you spend another quarter writing content that no model can read. The decision it changes is simple: fix the access problem first, then publish.
Where It Is in Context Memo
The AI Access Check lives in two places. In the landing page builder, it appears as a new widget you can drop onto a page, so the check runs in context and renders its result where your visitors (or your own team) will see it. Outside the builder, it is available as a public API endpoint you can call with a domain, which returns the same diagnostic payload as structured data. A CLI script is included for teams that would rather run the check from a terminal or wire it into an existing build process.
How to Use It
- Open the landing page builder, add the AI Access Check widget to a page, and enter the domain you want audited. The widget returns a pass or fail state for AI crawler access along with the specific findings behind it.
- Review the CMS detection result. The check identifies the platform serving your site, which tells you where the fix has to happen: in your CMS settings, at your CDN or reverse proxy, or in your application code.
- Read the header findings. Oversized headers are the most common blocker we see, and they fail quietly: a browser renders the page fine while an AI crawler never gets a usable response. The check names the condition so you can hand it to whoever owns your edge configuration.
- Apply the fix on your side, then re-run the check from the same widget. A clean result confirms the crawler path is open before you invest in memo publishing on that domain.
- For recurring coverage, call the public API endpoint with your domain, or run the CLI script against it. Both return the same findings, so you can schedule the check and catch a regression the week it happens instead of the quarter after.
- Pair a passing result with your existing crawl data in Context Memo. Access Check proves the door is open. Bot crawl logs prove the models walked through it.
Why We Built It
Customers kept asking a version of the same question: why isn't our brand showing up in AI search results? Our scans could show the absence and the competitor cited instead. What they could not show was a technical barrier upstream of everything else. A site that silently fails for AI crawlers will not get cited no matter how good the content is, and the team usually has no idea, because every human-facing test passes. That gap cost real time. Teams audited their positioning, rewrote their messaging, and published more, while the actual problem sat in a response header configuration nobody had reason to look at.
What It Does Not Do Yet
The check diagnoses. It does not remediate. When it flags oversized headers or a configuration that blocks AI crawlers, the correction happens in your CMS, your host, or your edge layer, and that remains a manual step on your side. We detect the CMS to tell you where to look, but we do not change settings in it. Context Memo is not a replacement for your CMS, and that stays true here.
Two other limits worth stating plainly. The check evaluates technical access, not content quality, so a passing result means models can read your pages, not that they will cite them. And the value of a clean access path scales with what is behind it: if a domain has little published content and no established authority, opening the crawler path will not produce citations by itself. Build the foundational content first, then confirm access, then measure.
